Update from Galveston:

Hello to all the Saints and Believers:
I hope and pray that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. We spent the holiday here in Galveston, and 20 or so people enjoyed dinner from the Streetscape Ministry house. Of course that includes the 10 of us that live here. (LOL) Anyway, checkout our newest pictures on www.restoregalveston.shutterfly.com or follow the link from www.streetscapeministries.com to see the progress on Ms. Chris McDaniel’s home. Ms. Chris is one of the widow ladies that Streetscape has been helping to restore her home since the hurricane.
We went to the street, “Hobo Breakfast” this past Saturday morning. Not a lot of familiar faces, but still there were about 50 or so people there. We passed out Bibles, prayer and the snack bags, along with some blankets and jackets that had been donated to our Ministry to be handed out either in the street, or in the neighborhoods. One gentleman who has been with us in devotions in the mornings joined us for his first time. Bro. Darren had Chris to pray with one lady, and his experience was very heart felt to watch. I believe we have another Solider in the “War against the Devil” as the freak van used to say.
I have a praise report in an answer to prayer. We have had another van donated to the ministry. Bro Scott and Sis. Renee Songer from the Dallas area donated their conversion van to us the weekend before Thanksgiving. They came down and brought it and then stayed for several days working on Ms. Chris’ house and around the ministry house.
Also that weekend, we were blessed and fortunate to have received a large donation of clothing and food items from a Church in Borne Texas around San Antonio. Bro. Scott Cunningham had told them about us, and the Pastor informed his church members that he was getting a moving van and setting it in front of the church and he wanted to see it filled up. Well not only did they fill it up, but when it was opened here in Galveston, it started falling out it was so full. Look for the pictures of the clothes give-away on shutterfly also.
That same weekend, a troop of boy scouts from Brownwood Texas (near Abilene) came and volunteered about 3 hours of their time in cleaning up our local neighborhood. They hauled limbs and trash out of 2 of the neighbors yards and tore down an old dog house. Ethan and Marlea really enjoyed having others to “play” with. We were also blessed by the Boy Scouts, in that they also donated a large amount of shoes and some clothes and coats and toys that were also passed out in the street and in the neighborhood and were also in the clothing give-away.
God is working on this Island in His Spirit and through the efforts of our fellow supporters. It is an amazing sight to behold. I pray that you get the chance to come to Galveston soon and see it for your self.
We are still in need of people to help in the rebuilding effort and in the clean up of the Island. The city and state have stopped debris pick up, even though the need is still great. There are not so many piles of rubble anymore, but a lot of the houses have not been gutted yet and that will mean more trash generated. The red tape here is unbelievable, but we are still doing the Lord’s work, so he will make a way where we do not see one.
If you do see a way to come to Galveston to see first hand the need, please contact me and we will get it all arranged.
One more quick note, I have 2 prayer request to put out. Sis. Nell Bell lost her sister yesterday morning and she and her mother and their families need our prayers. Also Sis. Margie McMullen’s sister Ruby is not doing very well at this time and Margie has asked for prayer for her also. So let’s all be in prayer for them and their families at this time.
Love to all in Christ,
Sam Walton
